February 2022 Dates for Social Media

February is just around the corner and that means love is in the air…but so is the spirit of many other just-for-fun and awareness days and celebrations to be had!


There are plenty of February dates for social media we could get involved with and shout about on our social media pages. So, check out what’s coming up, and get planning some fun social media content that engages with your audience this February. Plus, with many of these being historically trending topics, there’s a good chance you might increase your reach and expand that audience, too!


Social Media Holidays in February 2022



1st – Chinese New Year – Gong hei fat choy and happy year of the tiger! If you are celebrating Chinese New Year, why not share that with your audience? Go behind the scenes and show off some of the traditions, even those of your own, and show your customers something potentially new and interesting. It’s always a great idea to show off some of your human side, after all.


2nd – Groundhog Day – Groundhog Day is deep-rooted in tradition where the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania hold a ceremony featuring Punxsutawney Phil, a legendary groundhog who will predict whether there will be six more weeks of winter or an early spring by whether he sees his shadow or not. If he sees his shadow, it means winter is here for a bit longer. It’s a day that’s just for fun, often nowadays observed with a viewing of the Bill Murray classic.


4th – World Cancer Day – This year, World Cancer Day is kickstarting a 3-year long campaign for maximum impact to #CloseTheCareGap. The official website has ways you and your business can take action and be part of a positive change.


4th – Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony – The 2022 Winter Olympics will be taking place in Beijing this year from the 4th to the 20th February. Do you like to tune into the winter events? What is your favourite winter sport to watch?


9th – National Pizza Day – Who doesn’t love a good pizza! Are you a lover of a traditional pizza or do you like to switch it up with crazy toppings? To be honest, there are lots of variations of Pizza Day including “Pizza Party Day” (20th May), “Pepperoni Pizza Day” (20 September), “Cheese Pizza Day” (5th September), and there’s really only one way to celebrate them all! 😉


13th – Galentine’s Day – Galentine’s Day (as invented by Leslie Knopp in the comedy series Parks & Recreation), is to celebrate the platonic love between friends, especially women. It’s a day to shout out to your girl tribe and show appreciation for those super fantastic, unique and uplifting friendships.




13th – Super Bowl Sunday – Super Bowl LVI takes place in Los Angeles this year! Will this be the year Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs take home the Vince Lombardi trophy or will it be a surprise with the Bengals, 49ers or even hometeam LA Rams taking claim? (Obviously all contenders at the time of writing)! If you’re an NFL fan and you know your audience can relate, why not get a discussion going with some final predictions?


14th – Valentine’s Day – Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be just about romance. It’s a holiday you can really get creative and have fun with. It’s a great time to promote some special offers or have some free resources to share and share some love with your customers.


17th – National Random Acts of Kindness Day – Today is meant to encourage random acts of kindness, whether to people you know or complete strangers. You will most certainly make someone’s day. Plus, kindness is contagious, so who knows – you may be the spark that sets off a whole chain full of kindness! As a business, this can be in a number of ways, from offering a special freebie in packages to donating time to a local charity just to name a couple. Random Acts of Kindness Day is part of Random Acts of Kindness Week running from the 13th-19th, and you can find loads of resources on how to help #MakeKindnessTheNorm on the RAK Foundation website.


18th – National Drink Wine Day – Grab yourself a glass of your favourite wine, put your feet up and unwind while appreciating the process, taste and experience of enjoying a glass of wine. Like Pizza Day, there are lots of different days the celebrate wine, and we are here for them all! What is your wine of choice?


21st – President’s Day – Presidents’ Day is always celebrated on the third Monday of the month. In observance of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln’s birthdays, it has also come a day to observe all great presidents in American history with a welcomed day off for many US workers.


24th – National Chili Day – Beans or no beans? That’s really the only question you have to answer on National Chili Day. This simply dish is truly satisfying on a cold winter’s day, and it’s so popular, that many people in the US get together for a chili cook-off to see how their own special recipe stands up to the rest. Maybe you could arrange your own office chili cook-off this year.


27th – National Pokémon Day – Today marks 26 years of Pokémon since the game was first released for Game Boy back in 1996! And it has played a huge role in pop culture ever since with it’s ever-evolving game versions, animated series and more. Pikuchu has undoubtedly become an iconic character that is recognised across the world. Have you ever played the popular game? Who is your Pokémon of choice?


February is also…

Black History Month (US) – February marks a month long-celebration in America, honouring those impactful historical figures and observing the struggles and triumphs of African Americans throughout US history.


It is also International Boost Self-Esteem Month, Time Management Month and Heart (Health) Month.
