We’ve made it to the final month of 2022 – can you believe it? And while it may be Christmas on everyone’s minds, there is a whole lot more we can get involved with between now and the big day.
See which of these December social media dates you can get involved with and include in your content calendar for the month ahead!
Social Media Days for December 2022
1st – World AIDS Day – Today looks to bring awareness to AIDS and to reduce the stigma that still seems so attached to it. While once a devastating illness, modern treatment is so effective so that it can’t be passed on and those living with AIDS can live a long, healthy life, yet there is still so much discrimination and stigma around it. The World AIDS Day website has some resources you can use for the day, including a virtual red ribbon and social media graphics.
3rd – Small Business Saturday (UK) – Support your local small businesses today and every day! Small Business Saturday may officially be he 3rd, but that is only the springboard to discovering what amazing things your local independent businesses have to offer. You will often find incredible gifts and amazing service too – so get exploring what’s around you and shout about your favourites, too!
4th – Cookie Day – Cookie Day falls on a Sunday, so why not use the excuse to bake up some delicious Christmas cookies of your choice! Do you have a favourite type of cookie or go-to recipe of your own?
8th – Christmas Jumper Day (for Save the Children) – Christmas Jumper Day is an annual event that looks to raise money for Save the Children by inviting everyone to wear their best (or ugliest!) Christmas jumper for a small donation. This is really popular in workplaces for a bit of fun while giving back this holiday season. Check out the official website for ideas on how to set-up your own Christmas Jumper Day, fundraising assets and more. Don’t forget to share pictures of your jumper on the day!
13th – National Cocoa Day – Is there anything better than a hot cocoa on a cold December night? Well today is the perfect day to enjoy one any way you like! Are you a classic hot cocoa person or like one with all the works?
15th – International Tea Day – Nothing more British than a cup of tea! What makes the “perfect” cup of tea in your eyes?
16th – Ugly Sweater Day – Similar to Christmas Jumper Day in the UK, Ugly Sweater Day embraces the ugly, sometimes bizarre, Christmas sweater designs that are out there. If you have an ugly sweater, be brave and don it today for a bit of a laugh this festive season.
18th – Hanukkah starts – the Jewish festival of lights starts later this year on the 18th and lasts for eight nights. There will be food, time spent with family, games and of course, the lighting of the menorah. Wishing all celebrating a very happy Hanukkah!
18th – World Cup Final – It has already proven to be a crazy World Cup (and that’s just about what’s happened ON the pitch, let alone the controversary surrounding it!). There have been many surprises already, so the final should be an interesting one! Any predictions?
23rd – Festivus – “A Festivus for the rest of us!” is a holiday brought to us by the show Seinfeld, said to be a protest against the commercialism of the holiday season. With it brings a chance to air grievances (the famous line from the show “I’ve got a lot of problems with you people, now you’re going to hear about it!” comes to mind!), a Festivus feast, and even a decorative aluminium pole. It’s a strange holiday for some, but the tradition still continues for many!
25th – Christmas Day – Obviously can’t talk about December without Christmas Day coming to mind right away. If you are celebrating, why not go ahead and plan and schedule your Christmas greeting, if suitable, so you too can enjoy the festivities?
Also, because Christmas is on a Sunday, the bank holiday is observed on the 27th!
26th – Boxing Day – Boxing Day is observed by the UK, Australia, Canada and other Commonwealth countries. Some may see it as Christmas Day 2, while others enjoy a day to relax after the celebrations from the day before.
31st – New Year’s Eve – And that’s a wrap for 2022! What a year it has been – one that has certainly flown as we get to grips with “normality”, while many other things are happening around the world and in the news.
